Understanding the Pay Gap
For every dollar that a man earns, a women earns 81 cents. This means that for an equal amount of work, a women makes significantly less money. This is the gist of the gender pay gap. Women are paid less money than men for a variety of reasons, many of which stem from sexism and the patriarchy in the United States. On top of this, the pay gap becomes even worse as race and other minority aspects of identity are included in the data. Women In the WorkPlace
The pay gap is not the only issue disadvantaging women in the work place. Different studies show the immense amount of sexual harassment and assault women experience in the office. Look below to learn more about this.
55% of people in the workplace have experienced sexual assault, and only 12% of these cases came from men. Triple the amount of women have been assaulted.
Women are 6.5 times more likely to leave their jobs if they experience sexual harassment.
